Loreen and Sweden win Eurovision Song Contest 2023
Loreen has made history at the Eurovision Song Contest by winning for the second time with her song Tattoo. The Swede, who already triumphed in 2012 with Euphoria, has once again conquered the public and the jury with a proposal that mixes pop and electronic music. With this victory, Loreen becomes the first woman to achieve the Eurovision double and the second artist to do so, after Ireland’s Johnny Logan.
It swept the ballots with 583 points
The representative of Sweden has swept the votes, obtaining a total of 583 points. She has led both the vote of the professional jury and the televote, demonstrating that her song has appealed to all audiences. Tattoo is a song that talks about love through tattoos as a symbol of something that is marked forever. The song has been composed by Thomas G: Son and Peter Boström, the same authors of Euphoria.
Second place for Finland
The second place went to Finland, with 526 points for his risky proposal, Cha Cha Cha. The singer Käärijä has surprised with a song that combines techno and pop, and invites you to dance and enjoy life. His staging has been very funny and colorful, with dancers dressed in fluorescent pink and forming a human worm on stage.
Israel, third place
The third place went to Israel, with 362 points for Noa Kirel and her song Boom Boom. The young artist has displayed all her charisma and powerful voice with a very catchy and danceable pop song. Her performance had a very dynamic choreography and a very flashy costume, with sequins and feathers.
Italy and Norway closed the top five places
Fourth and fifth place went to Italy and Norway, respectively. The Italian Marco Mengoni has moved with his ballad Ti ho voluto bene veramente, a very personal and sincere song about love and heartbreak. The Norwegian TIX shone with Fallen Angel, a song inspired by his own experience with Tourette’s syndrome and that transmits a message of hope and overcoming.
Spain, in 17th place
The Spanish representative at Eurovision 2023, Blanca Paloma, came in 17th place, with 100 points. The singer from Elche has defended her song Eaea, a flamenco lullaby with urban influences. Her performance was very elegant and subtle, with a moon in her hand and five dancers who accompanied her on the podium. However, the public’s televote gave her only five points, the worst score of the 26 contestants.
Several star appearances
The Eurovision 2023 gala took place in Liverpool, UK, following last year’s win by James Newman with Embers. The show featured several star appearances, including Kate Middleton on piano from Windsor, accompanying Stefania and Kalush Orchestra, the Ukrainian 2022 winners. Singer Joss Stone and composer Andrew Lloyd Weber also performed.
