More than 10,000 people
The world needs love. Or at least so claims Michael Bublé, who strives to give a little of it through his music, either in his recordings or on stage, as he demonstrated this Monday, January 30, in his performance at the WiZink Center in Madrid, where he dazzled some 10,000 people with a vocal show, gallantry and closeness. »Feeling good»
A curtain with the artist’s initials rises to reveal an orchestra playing the first notes of the classic »Feeling good» on a square stage, from which a catwalk leads to a smaller one in the middle of the dance floor. Bublé’s voice begins to sound without him appearing on the stage. He makes to be begged to finally leave through an elevator right in the middle of his orchestra.
A look in keeping with the show
The string instruments on one side, played by women, and the wind instruments on the other, played by men, accompany the crooner who seduces from the first second with seductive movements and classic elegance enhanced by a total black look of suit, tie and shoes.
Back with more strength
On the catwalk is projected a road similar to the cover of his latest album »Higher» (Warner, 2022), his ninth work and that gives name to the tour that brings him to Spain and whose launch the singer stressed the good moment in which he was, especially inspired by the family he has formed with Argentine actress Luisana Lopilato, a good time needed after some hard years by the liver cancer of one of his sons, a situation that forced Bublé to retire for two years.

With that behind him, the Canadian is constantly unleashing his love for his loved ones. And an example of that feeling is his second song of the night, »Haven’t Met You Yet», a song dedicated to his partner, which is one of the few original pieces he performs in the Madrid coliseum. His show is based on covers of songs by big names like Charlie Chaplin, Elvis Presley, Barry White, Dean Martin, Bee Gees or Julie London, but that is perfect for him, who considers such an honor a privilege.
An enthusiastic audience
With an «oeoeoeoe», the Canadian welcomes his audience. «I’m very happy, happy to be here tonight with you,» he greets in Spanish, amid applause, to emphasize that he wants to «have a party tonight,» a night full of emotions for the attendees, among whom a lucky one makes a video call with Bublé to greet his mother who is in Venezuela. A closeness that makes the audience love the Canadian even more.
Straight to the soul
The artist touches hearts since his debut in 2003 and tonight was not going to be the exception. On this occasion, his chosen ones are his versions of the mythical »Sway», »When You are Smiling» or »L-O-V-E», which he combines with his own songs like »Home», a ballad to rest after so many dances of seduction. All of them have in common to talk about love, in different aspects.
Elegance and class
His interpretation of »Higher», an original song, stands out among the repertoire chosen for the meeting. He dances with the microphone and elegantly marks the steps, backed by a three-voice choir that enhances a show that also stands out for its twenty musicians. Bublé considers this song «sexy». It is. He wants to get away from the label that pigeonholes him into Christmas carols.

Between winks, kisses and hands outstretched to the public, the heartfelt »Hold On» or the pop of »I’ll Never Not Love You», as well as his emotional version of »Smile», by Charles Chaplin, which for Bublé is the «most beautiful song in the world». Also the classic »Fever» or his particular tribute to Elvis Presley with the version, guitar in hand, of »One Night», which elevates Bublé.
Smiling at all times
Likewise, with his version of »You’re the First, the Last, My Everything», by Barry White, the artist reaches one of the peaks of his particular party, which he completes with, among others, »Call Me a River» and the cheerful »It’s a Beautiful Day», of his own. We do not know if every day will be beautiful for the thousands of people who enjoy the concert, but at least tonight seems to be. Also for Bublé, who doesn’t lose his smile.
A climactic finale
After a break in the night, the artist returns to the stage amid cheers to close with his versions of »How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You)», »Save the Last Dance» and »You Were Always on My Mind». In a final apotheosis for presence and vocal quality, Bublé says goodbye to a tremendously grateful audience.
Next appointment in Spain
After seducing in the Madrid stadium, the Canadian will move to Barcelona to conquer the Palau Sant Jordi and continue his tour. With more than 60 million albums sold, five world tours and four Grammy Awards that may soon become five – he is nominated for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for the 2023 awards – Bublé has no intention of stopping as long as he has an audience to fall in love with his music.
