The Mandalorian
‘The Mandalorian’ is a science fiction action television series created by Jon Favreau for Disney+. The series is set in the ‘Star Wars’ universe and centers on a lone bounty hunter, known as the Mandalorian, who works in the far reaches of the galaxy, far from the authority of the New Republic. The plot follows the Mandalorian (played by Pedro Pascal) as he performs work for different clients, until he is tasked with a special mission: to capture a target who turns out to be a mysterious boy of the same race as the iconic ‘Star Wars’ character Yoda. From there, the Mandalorian becomes the boy’s protector as he faces dangerous enemies and discovers more about the boy’s true identity and origin. ‘The Mandalorian’ has been a huge success for Disney+, and has received numerous awards and nominations, including 7 Emmy Awards. The third season of the series is currently airing.
The Last of Us
‘The Last of Us’ is an HBO drama television series based on the popular video game of the same name created by Naughty Dog, critically acclaimed for its script and gameplay, and which has won numerous awards and nominations. The series was developed by Craig Mazin, the creator of ‘Chernobyl’, and features the participation of the video game’s director, Neil Druckmann. The series’ plot follows Joel, a lonely and cynical man who has lost everything in a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by a pandemic that turns people into ferocious infected, and Ellie, a teenage orphan who joins him on a dangerous journey across the United States in search of a cure for the pandemic. The main roles in the series are played by Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, both actors we could already see working in the celebrated HBO series ‘Game of Thrones’.
The Crown
‘The Crown’ is a historical drama television series produced by Netflix. The series follows the life of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom from her youth to the present day, exploring her personal life and her role as head of state of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth of Nations. The series is created and written by Peter Morgan, who also wrote the film ‘The Queen’ (2006). The series features an all-star cast, with Claire Foy playing Queen Elizabeth II in the first two seasons, and Olivia Colman taking on the role in seasons three and four. Also appearing in the series are actors such as Matt Smith, Vanessa Kirby, Helena Bonham Carter, Tobias Menzies and Gillian Anderson, among others. The series has been critically praised and has won numerous awards, including the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Drama and the Emmy Award for Best Drama Series. The historical aspects and accuracy of the series have been the subject of debate and controversy, but overall it has been acclaimed for its portrayal of the characters and its exploration of British royal life. It currently has five seasons and has been renewed for a sixth.
Dahmer
The miniseries ‘Dahmer’ is a Netflix original production that tells the story of the famous serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer. The series consists of four episodes and is based on the real life of Dahmer, who was responsible for the deaths of at least 17 people in the 1980s and early 1990s in the United States. The series stars Evan Peters as Dahmer and is directed by Ryan Murphy, known for his hit TV series such as ‘American Horror Story’ and ‘Pose’. The series shows the rise and fall of Dahmer, from his troubled youth to his arrest and conviction for his crimes. Through flashbacks and reenactments of the events that led Dahmer to commit his terrible crimes, the series explores the underlying causes of his actions and examines how his psychopathy was overlooked by authorities and mental health professionals. ‘Dahmer’ is an intense and disturbing miniseries that is not suitable for all viewers due to its violent and graphic content. However, for those interested in the psychological profile of serial killers and the nature of extreme violence, the series may prove fascinating and informative.
My Policeman
‘My Policeman’ is a romantic drama film based on the novel of the same name by Bethan Roberts, directed by Michael Grandage and starring Harry Styles, Emma Corrin and David Dawson. The plot is set in 1950s Brighton, England, where young Tom (Harry Styles) begins a love affair with Patrick (David Dawson), a policeman married to a woman named Marion (played by Emma Corrin). The story follows the love triangle between Tom, Patrick and Marion, and how their relationship is affected by the laws and morality of the time, which considered homosexuality a crime. The film shows how Tom and Patrick struggle to keep their relationship a secret, while Marion begins to suspect the true nature of their relationship. Tension mounts as Patrick is forced to choose between his love for Tom and his duty as a police officer. The film is a reflection on the oppression of homosexuality in the 1950s and how it affects people’s lives. It also highlights the importance of true love and how it can defy social norms.
Blonde
‘Blonde’ is a biographical drama film based on the novel of the same name by Joyce Carol Oates, directed by Andrew Dominik and starring Ana de Armas in the title role of Marilyn Monroe. The film follows the life of Norma Jeane Mortenson, better known as Marilyn Monroe, from her childhood until her death in 1962. The story focuses on her Hollywood career, her worldwide fame and her struggle with depression, anxiety and drug addiction. Through flashbacks and recreations of the most important events in her life, the film explores the difficulties Marilyn faced as a woman in a male-dominated industry and her struggle to find her place in the world. It also focuses on her personal relationships with the men in her life, including her marriage to famed writer Arthur Miller and her tumultuous relationship with President John F. Kennedy. Ana de Armas’ performance has been widely praised for her portrayal of Marilyn Monroe, both in her physical appearance and emotionally intense performance. In addition, the film features a supporting cast that includes Adrien Brody, Bobby Cannavale and Julianne Nicholson. ‘Blonde’ premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2021 and is available on Netflix’s streaming platform.
All Quiet on the Front
‘All Quiet on the Front’ is a German film directed by Edward Berger and is based on Erich Maria Remarque’s 1929 novel of the same name. It is the first German-language film adaptation of the book and stars Felix Kammerer, Albrecht Schuch, Aaron Hilmer, Edin Hasanović, Daniel Brühl, Thibault de Montalembert and Devid Striesow in leading roles. It tells the story of the young German Paul Bäumer (Kammerer), who enlists, together with his group of friends and without his parents’ permission to fight in the First World War. However, before long the enthusiasm and patriotism with which they embark on their journey come to an end when confronted with the reality and rawness in the trenches of the battle lines in northern France. It became the first German film to be nominated for an Oscar for Best Picture, as well as the German production with the most Oscar nominations, surpassing the film ‘Das Boot’ which held that record with six nominations since 1983.
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery is a mystery/comedy film directed and written by Rian Johnson. It is the sequel to the 2019 hit film ‘Knives Out’ and follows detective Benoit Blanc (played by Daniel Craig) in a new murder investigation. The film features an all-star cast that includes Edward Norton, Kate Hudson, Dave Bautista, Leslie Odom Jr, Janelle Monáe and Kathryn Hahn, among others. The film’s plot follows Blanc as he investigates another murder at a luxury villa on the French Riviera. When billionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton) invites some of his entourage for a getaway to his private Greek island, it soon becomes clear that all is not perfect in paradise. And when someone turns up dead, who better than Benoit Blanc to unravel all the layers of the mystery?
Yellowstone
‘Yellowstone’ is an American drama television series created by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson. The series centers on the Dutton family, owners of the largest cattle ranch in the United States, which is located in Yellowstone National Park. The series stars Kevin Costner as John Dutton, the patriarch of the family, who is determined to protect his land and family at all costs. The other family members include his eldest son, Jamie (Wes Bentley), an ambitious lawyer desperate to win his father’s approval; his youngest son, Kayce (Luke Grimes), a former Marine struggling to find his place in the family; and his wife, Beth (Kelly Reilly), a strong, intelligent woman who runs the family business. The series explores themes such as politics, corruption, violence and family. In addition, the series features a wide range of characters, including local Native Americans, corrupt politicians, greedy real estate developers and other ranchers looking to dispossess the Duttons of their land. ‘Yellowstone’ has been a ratings success since its premiere in 2018 and to date has five seasons available.

‘Hasta que nos volvamos a encontrar’ is a Peruvian film directed by Bruno Ascenzo starring Stephanie Cayo, Maxi Iglesias, Wendy Ramos, Vicente Vergara, Renata Flores and Amiel Cayo in the main roles. It tells the story of Salvador Campodónico, a young and successful Spanish businessman whose family owns the most important hotel corporation in Spain. For the construction of their first international project they choose to land in Cusco. It is in this mystical and magical place where Salvador meets Ariana, an adventurous backpacker who lives a life completely opposite to his own, free of ties. It is available on Netflix.
