Fans of «EDtv» and «True Detective» will be pleased to know that Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson will once again be sharing the screen in a new comedy series for Apple TV+. The series, created by David West Read, is called «Brother From Another Mother» and consists of 10 episodes. But there’s a surprising bit of news that has left us with our mouths agape that involves the two actors in a very intimate way.
They play fictitious versions of themselves
In the series, McConaughey and Harrelson play fictionalized versions of themselves who decide to live together with their respective families on a Texas ranch. McConaughey revealed the title of the series on Kelly Ripa’s «Let’s Talk Off Camera» podcast.
McConaughey is suspicious
However, the title might have a deeper meaning than it seems, as McConaughey confessed to Ripa that he has suspicions that Harrelson might actually be his brother.
His mother knew Harrelson’s father.
The reason is that his mother told him that she had met Harrelson’s father, and not exactly casually. «We’ve always had a special connection, like we were kindred spirits,» McConaughey said. «His kids call me Uncle Matthew. My kids call him Uncle Woody. And when we see pictures of us, we get confused for each other. Our families, too. A few years ago, we were in Greece talking about how much we love each other and our families,» McConaughey continued. «And my mother says, ‘Woody, I knew your father.’ And we all noticed the pause she paused after ‘I met.’ It was a very suggestive ‘I knew’.»
Did the two of you meet?
McConaughey set about researching his family tree. He said, «We started digging into what that ‘met’ meant and did some math and it turns out that Harrelson’s father was on leave when my parents divorced for the second time. And then there are some clues and places in West Texas where there might have been a date, or an encounter, or an intimate instant.»
