Jamie Foxx recovering after being hospitalized for «medical complication»
Actor and singer Jamie Foxx is recovering from an unspecified medical emergency that reportedly landed him in the hospital. On Wednesday, Corinne Foxx, the Oscar winner’s daughter, posted a statement on Instagram on behalf of the Foxx family saying he had «suffered a medical complication» the day before.
Already on the road to recovery
«Thankfully, due to quick action and excellent care, he is well on his way to recovery,» Corinne wrote. «We know how loved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time.»
Nothing to say for now
It is unclear what medical complication Foxx suffered or if he is still being treated at a hospital. Foxx’s representatives told BuzzFeed News that the family has «nothing more» to say at this time. CNN reported that Foxx was hospitalized in Georgia and is under observation.
Serious condition
According to TMZ, the actor’s condition was serious enough for his family to visit him. A source told TMZ that «he is now communicating and that is good news.»
I was shooting an action movie
The hospitalization came days after Foxx was filming in Atlanta for the Netflix movie Back in Action alongside Glenn Close and Cameron Diaz. The action comedy is Diaz’s first film since she announced her retirement from acting in 2018. Diaz’s last film was 2014’s Annie, which also featured Foxx.
A much admired actor
Foxx has received numerous awards and accolades for his work as an actor and musician. He won the Oscar for Best Actor in 2004 for his portrayal of Ray Charles in the biopic Ray, for which he also won a Golden Globe, BAFTA and Screen Actors Guild Award. That same year, he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the film Collateral. In 2006, he won a Grammy for Best Rap Solo Performance for «Gold Digger» with Kanye West. In 2017, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
