Pedro Pascal joins the cast of ‘Gladiator 2’.
Pedro Pascal, known for his roles in ‘The Mandalorian’ and ‘The Last of Us’, will join the cast of ‘Gladiator 2’, Deadline reports. The actor, who has played lead characters in each of the aforementioned series, joins a long list of big names in the highly anticipated sequel to the 2000 Academy Award-winning film.
Ridley Scott will again be the director
Pascal will join Paul Mescal, Denzel Washington, Barry Keoghan, Joseph Quinn and Connie Nielsen, who will return to her role in the film. Ridley Scott will again direct. The story will follow Lucius (Mescal), the son of Lucilla (Nielsen) and nephew of Commodus, played by Joaquin Phoenix in the first film.
Russell Crowe
The original film, starring Russell Crowe in the title role of Maximus Decimus Meridius, grossed over $500 million worldwide and won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture. However, a sequel had not materialized until recently.
A highly sought-after actor
‘Gladiator 2’ is not the only project Pascal has recently joined. The actor will also star opposite Matt Damon in Drive-Away Dolls, Ethan Coen’s new film, which will be his sole directorial debut. The comedy will follow Jamie, an inhibited free spirit who regrets once again breaking up with his girlfriend, and his friend Marian, who desperately needs to break free.
Projects
In search of a fresh start, the two embark on an impromptu trip to Tallahassee, but things quickly get complicated when they cross paths with a group of inept criminals along the way. In addition, Pascal will lead a short film called ‘Strange Way of Life’.
Complicated work on ‘The Mandalorian’ costume
Pascal recently spoke about the filming process of ‘The Mandalorian,’ saying that the suit had a big physical impact on him. «It’s like putting on a weighted head-to-toe glove,» he said. «They’ve continued to refine it and make it more comfortable, but it’s like going in blind. Your breath completely fogs up the narrow slit you can see through. There’s no peripheral vision.»
