France has won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022 thanks to Lissandro with his song «Oh Maman!», with which the neighboring country adds its second triumph. Meanwhile, Spain’s Carlos Higes with his «Señorita» has reached the sixth position with 137 points, achieving his eighth top 10 in the festival.
France was the jury’s winner with 132 points, while it came third in the televote with 71, thus winning with 203 points. «Oh Maman!», performed by Lissandro, is composed by Barbara Pravi, the singer who achieved the second place for France at Eurovision 2021 performing «Voilà» and who already composed the song that won Eurovision Junior 2020. Pravi is the first woman to win two Eurovision Song Contest.
The second position was won by Armenia, the hosts and the country that has finished second most times at the festival. It was 110 points from the jury (third place) and 70 from the televote (fourth) that earned her the 180 points. Georgia, which came second in the jury, suffered in the televote and scored only 47 points (13th place).
Fourth place went to Ireland, which achieved its best result at the children’s festival. Sophie Lennon and her «Solas» scored 150 points. Fifth place went to the United Kingdom, which returned to the festival after 16 years. The British were the most voted by the public with 80 points, two more than Spain, which was immediately below.
The Netherlands and Portugal, seventh and eighth overall, each received 70 points from the televote, tying for fourth place with Armenia. Portugal’s Nicolas Alves and his raspy voice earned the first top 10 for that country in the history of the festival. Ukraine ninth and Poland tenth rounded off the top 10.
At the bottom of the ranking were Italy (95 points, tied with Poland), Albania (94 points), Serbia (92 points), North Macedonia (54 points), Kazakhstan (47 points) and the red lantern was Malta, with 43 points. This is the third time that Malta has finished last in the festival.
The 20th Junior Eurovision Song Contest took place in Yerevan after Malena’s triumph in 2021 with «Qami, Qami», precisely in Paris. France joins the group of countries that have won two Junior Eurovision Festivals, along with Armenia, Belarus, Malta and Russia. Now, the French television France Télévisions will be able to organize the 2023 edition.
